About Nan Allison Nutrition Consulting
I provide individual consultations to people who struggle with food, weight/body, and chronic disease issues, using a combination of approaches based on the individual, their issues, beliefs, learning styles, and physical health needs.

·• Food planning and coaching
·• Chef/dietitian services for in-home meal preparation
·• Assessment of supplement needs.
·• Experiential, cognitive therapies, and sacred healing
·• Meal support/guided eating services

I am
·• Traditionally trained, registered, licensed dietitian who practices and is experienced in alternative and traditional nutrition therapies,

In the first appointment I ask many questions (family history, medical history, symptoms, weight and dieting history, feelings about food and body and your experiences with them, food preferences, like, dislikes, schedules, knowledge, skill,) to help you and us begin to develop a picture of where and how food fits in for you and where you would like to be. At the end of the first appointment, I may recommend follow-up tests (metabolic rate, body composition, blood tests, bioenergetic tests) to help determine more specifically the amounts, types and timing of foods or other supplements that your body may need.

In subsequent appointments, I can become more specific about what, how much, and when to eat, or what other supplements or approaches may be needed, as well as general strategies and areas of exploration about developing your own eating style – the best match for you.

For people who struggle with food and weight issues, I guide you in discovering how to eat intuitively and how to understand and get to the root of why you run into problems doing what you want to do.

To give you a better idea of how we work and to get you started, you may want to order a copy of our book, Full and Fulfilled: The Science of Eating to Your Soul’s Satisfaction, by Nan Allison and Carol Beck, from your local bookstore, www.amazon.com or call me.

Nan Allison, MS, RD, LDN is a licensed nutritionist, author, healthcare lobbyist, and co-owner of Allison and Beck and Associates. Her ongoing interest is in why individuals and cultures choose to eat the way they do and how to facilitate change at the individual, corporate and community levels.

Nan earned her Bachelor's degree with high honors from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and her Master's degree in nutrition from Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts. She completed her dietetic internship at Frances Stern Nutrition Center of New England Medical Center Hospital in Boston and became a registered dietitian in 1981. She has completed four years of study in Sacred Healing using Kabbalistic theories.

Nan brings a dual focus to her consulting practice. The first is a clinical nutrition focus which incorporates her knowledge of traditional as well as complimentary and alternative nutrition. She helps clients who struggle with a variety of nutrition related issues: dieting, eating disorders, autoimmune and heart diseases--always from the perspective that healing is a process rooted in guided self- exploration and discovery.

The second focus is health care and nutrition policy and integration of nutrition therapy into the medical system and business policy. She is a registered lobbyist and serves on a number of community boards as a nutrition and health policy advisor.
